Yesterday the Oklahoma State Board of Education voted to close school buildings for the rest of the academic year. They have asked districts across the state to develop plans for continuous learning beginning April 6th. In addition to developing CPS’s plan for continued learning, CPS administration, principals, and staff are preparing answers for many questions you may have, such as:
- What about graduation?
- When and how will enrollment happen?
- How will parents retrieve student items from buildings?
- How will students with no internet or device access learning resources?
- And many, many more.
We ask that you please be patient during this time as we work to find answers and solutions to these questions. We will relay information related to each of these topics as soon as we have a plan, have discussed it with related parties, and made certain that it addresses the needs of all of our stakeholders as well as it can under our current circumstances.
We are working hard to find solutions that will allow our students, parents, and teachers to work through the rest of this school year in as stress-free an environment as possible. We are committed to finding solutions for the continued learning of ALL of our students.
This is not an ideal situation for anyone involved. We know our students miss their friends, activities, and the teachers and staff at their schools. In turn, our principals, teachers, and staff miss their coworkers, friends, and, most of all, their students. However, we also see this as an opportunity for all of us here at CPS to learn, grown, and become better educators. We are dedicated to doing our very best to bring our classrooms into your homes. We know that this will not be perfect, but we also know that together we can accomplish great things!
Cushing Public Schools remains committed to striving for excellence, while we champion every student, every day! #WeAreAllTigers
