HANDBOOK HIGHLIGHTS AND HELPFUL INFORMATION
We will be accepting new enrollment applications, but have limited spots. You may attend Cushing Pre-K Enrollment for new students, but placement is not guaranteed. If we cannot place your child, we will be happy to put your child on our waiting list. To enroll your child you must have your child's birth certificate, current immunization record, and a utility bill in hand. A CHILD'S LEGAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE MUST BE THE CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY THE STATE OR COUNTY WHERE THE CHILD WAS BORN - NOT THE HOSPITAL RECORD. Your child must be 4 years old by September 1 and potty trained. Please bring separate payments for a cafeteria deposit of at least $5 and a $10 Art Fee at enrollment. If paying by check, please make checks payable to Cushing Pre-K. Cafeteria Accounts can also be paid online using a credit or debit card.
All students must be walked into the breakfast area or classroom by an adult for the safety of each student. Only students who wish to eat a school cafeteria breakfast can enter at 8:00 AM at the east entrance. Parents of students who will eat a school breakfast should park in the east parking lot. The east breakfast door locks at 8:15 AM. Students who eat breakfast at home may enter at 8:15 AM through the north door only and parents of students who do not eat breakfast at school may park in the north parking lot. The north door locks at 8:30 am.
School ends at 3:00 pm. Parents must use a car line for dismissal, for safety reasons, and the placement of the road. PARENTS ARE ASKED TO STAY IN THEIR VEHICLE AND YOUR CHILD WILL BE BROUGHT TO YOU. You will not be able to pick up your child by parking in the parking lots as this would not be fair to other parents who wait in the car line. Again, this is for safety purposes. Mrs. Shaw's and Mrs. Vassar's class will be picked up in the car line going to the east front entrance (2nd driveway into the school). Mrs. Carmin's, Mrs. Taylor's, and Mrs. Hood's classes will be picked up in the car line going to the north door (1st driveway into school).
THE ATTENDANCE POLICY WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. If a student exceeds the days limit of the attendance/tardiness policy said student may be dropped from the Cushing Pre-K roll so that other waiting students may enroll in our program. Only the principal may make special exceptions to this policy. If there are special circumstances, please visit with the principal for assistance. Any student coming to school after 8:30 AM will be TARDY and will need to sign in the secretary at the main entrance. School begins at 8:30 AM.
NO PICKING UP STUDENTS DURING NAP TIME FROM 1:00 - 2:00 PM-NO EXCEPTIONS.
If there is a need to pick up a child early from school, you will need to pick up from 2:00-2:15 pm at the front office, due to the congestion of traffic from the car lines.
VISITORS TO OUR SCHOOL
For your child's safety, all doors to the school will be locked during regular school hours except for the morning arrival time. After 8:30 AM all visitors must enter through the main entrance.
SCHOOL LUNCH NOTE
We call in our lunch count each morning to cafeteria employees, who begin preparing meals early in the day. If your child arrives after 9:00 AM you will need to send a lunch for your child. We cannot allow restaurant food lunches to be brought into the building. Thank you for understanding.
Breakfast and lunch money will be collected in our school office. If students want extra milk or water, this money will need to be paid in our school office as we can no longer accept loose change for these items. Due to the computerized lunch accounting system, Cushing Public Schools does NOT ALLOW ANY ACCOUNTS TO BE CHARGED FOR SCHOOL MEALS on a meal account with a zero balance. All meals must be pre-paid. If lunch money is not pre-paid, your child will need to bring a sack lunch until his/her account is current. Please check with Mrs. Hawkins or the Child Nutrition Page for current lunch and breakfast prices for full and reduced meals. Students may bring their lunch but must eat in the cafeteria with their class. Please do not send anything in lunches that needs to be heated. No carbonated beverages may be brought to school. Extra milk or water may be purchased for 50 cents. Each class has a different meal time, so check with your child's teacher about his/her specific meal time. Parents are welcome to eat lunch in the cafeteria, but should notify the secretary or teacher when signing in your child. We do not have room for adults who wish to eat breakfast, but please feel free to join your child for lunch. Please ask for the current adult lunch price from our school secretary or Child Nutrition Page. If you choose to eat a school lunch with your child, please pre-pay in the office when you arrive with your child. Adult meals must be paid by either cash or check.
Cushing Pre-K's sickness policy is that all students must be symptom free for 24 HOURS before returning to school. Please keep your child home if he/she has any of the following symptoms:
- sore throat
- fever above 99.5
- severe headache
- chronic coughing
Please call the school and report your child's absence each day.
CHILD ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
