Certified employees who are contracted to work a minimum of six hours a day are eligible for the school insurance.
The Flexible Benefit Allowance is based on the cost of the premium for the Health Choice High Option plan ($640.28).
If the insurance option costs more than the Flexible Benefit Allowance, the difference will be deducted from the employee’s paycheck. If the insurance option is less than the Flexible Benefit Allowance, that difference will be paid to the employee as Flex Cash.
Certified employees who choose NOT to participate in any of the Health Insurance plans will be paid a Flex Cash in lieu of Health Insurance, which the amount as of now is $69.71/month, included in your monthly paycheck.
Certified employees participating in the District Insurance Program will have the premiums deducted from monthly compensation. Certified employees not participating in the District Health Insurance Program will receive the benefit in the regular monthly compensation.
Voluntary insurance plans include coverage for your dependents with health, dental, vision and life insurance.
Certified employees are automatically in the Teachers’ Retirement System. The salary on the pay scale includes full teacher retirement contributions (7% on all salary) which will be deducted from the salary amounts and paid by the district. The district also pays 9.5% additional.
District pays fully for the Emergent Plus Plan and up to $14.00 on the Platinum Plan, the rest will be out of pocket to employee.
Cushing Public School has a matching plan with FOCUS FINANCIAL. The employer match is up to $100.00 per month. To be considered VESTED the employee must be employed with the Cushing Public School District for the completion of 5 full years.

Sick Leave: Certified Employees will accrue one (1) day of sick leave per month of employment. For example, a certified employee on a ten-month contract will accrue one (1) day of sick leave per month, for a total of ten (10) days of sick leave accrued over the fiscal year.
Emergency Leave: Full-time and or part-time certified personnel will be allowed two (2) days emergency leave per school year. Emergency leave is interpreted as a sudden, generally unexpected occurrence or unavoidable set of circumstances demanding immediate action which takes the employee from his/her duties. Leave is determined by the superintendent.
Personal Business Leave: The district shall provide for all certified personnel three (3) personal business leave days per school year. Leave shall be limited to business matters that cannot be conducted after school hours or on the weekend.
Personal Leave (NOYB): The district shall provide a minimum of three (3) days for personal leave with guidelines.
Bereavement Leave: The district shall provide for certified employees up to five (5) days per year bereavement leave for immediate family members without loss of pay. Immediate family members are defined as follows: husband or wife, son or daughter, father or mother, brother or sister, father-in-law or mother-in-law, son-in-law or daughter-in-law, brother-in-law or sister-in-law, grandparent or grandchild. Arrangements for bereavement leave not considered as immediate family will be approved or disapproved by the superintendent.
Military Leave: It is the policy of the district to provide leave for certified employees who are a component of the armed forces in the United States including members of the National Guard, when the employee is ordered by proper authorities to active duty or service.
Leave Sharing Program (Voluntary): Participation will be on a voluntary basis and will permit district employees to donate sick leave to another district employee who is suffering from or who has a relative suffering from an extraordinary or severe illness. Guidelines will apply.
