Nothing is more important to Cushing Public Schools than the safety of our students and staff. As we enter the winter weather season, we want to share how decisions are made and how families will be notified if school schedules change.

Assessing Weather Conditions
Before making any decision to cancel school, we closely monitor weather forecasts, consult with local authorities, and evaluate road, sidewalk, and parking lot conditions. Every decision is 
made with the safety of our students and staff as the top priority.

Notifying Staff, Parents, and Students
We understand that staff and families need timely information when schedules change. If school is canceled due to inclement weather, a decision will be announced by 6:00 a.m. on the affected day.  Information will be shared through the following channels:

• Phone & Text Messages - Please ensure your contact information is up to date in Infinite Campus so you can receive phone calls and text notifications. If you are not receiving messages, contact your child’s school office to verify your information.
• ParentSquare - Notifications will be sent through ParentSquare. The ParentSquare app is available for both iPhone and Android devices.
• Social Media - Follow us on Facebook @CushingSchools and Instagram @CushingPublic for updates.
• District Website - Visit www.cushingtigers.com for the latest information.
• Local TV Stations - School closing information will be shared with OKC-area stations, including KFOR, KOCO, KWTV, KOKH, and NewsOK.com.

Virtual Learning During Extended Closures
If we exceed the number of inclement weather days built into our calendar, the district will transition to virtual learning days. School closing notifications will clearly indicate if it is a traditional snow day or a virtual day. Should we transition to virtual learning, school staff will provide clear expectations and instructions for completing assignments.
